Since I have very few male relatives, I grew up with female empowerment and support. I can't tell you how many times we have gathered for an all-girls family dinner, and it's been therapeutic and, in some cases, healing. Because when you surround yourself with only women, there's this energy that comes from being for one another. It's support entirely, and we get each other's problems and worries. Of course, in my family we have different ages, and most of us are in different moments of our lives, but still, we have advice, a tissue, or a hug to give when it's needed.
But hey, we don't just do therapy. We also have an awesome time, and actually, the point of getting together is that we like to gift our clothes to the younger generation of girls. So, before dinner, my mom would force us to go into our closet, take everything out, and pick items we hadn't worn in the last three months to give to my younger cousins, and my older cousins would give me their clothes. And it worked: we saved money, and we even helped the environment. If you didn't know, that's a pretty common practice for girls in the same family. Anyway, I was thinking about my family when I came across that empowerment that comes alive when women get together to support and cheer each other on. And to honor all of the amazing women in my family and the ones that are yet to come, here's this story for y'all.
