Students Roast Teacher With a GoFundMe Campaign For New Shoes

Crowdfunding is used for a lot of good - to help people pay hospital bills, to raise money for relocating a family in need, for funerals. Sometimes it's used for jokes, a la parody petitions. This week, however, we learned of another purpose for GoFundMe: roasting the crap out of teachers.

Twitter user @MaddieLuebbert shared a GoFundMe with exactly this purpose. The campaign's title is β€œMr. Julian Needs New Shoes,” and features photos of the teacher (who is kind of a stud) and his shoes, which don't actually look as bad as one might expect.

On the campaign page, the students explain the direness of their fundraising effort:

β€œWe're trying to make our world history teacher's shoe's history. They're very hideous, and he is tired of being bullied by block 6. He stands all day long and needs Nike Blazer'77, he's broke... please help him!!”

The passionate plea seems to have worked. The students have raised over $3k for their sartorially challenged teacher. And the internet is loving their snarkiness and their success.
