Fitness Influencer Tries To Film Respectfully While Exercising, Gets Insulted By Gym Bro

When it comes to going to the gym, most people are focused on only one thing: get in there, sweat profusely, and get out again. You don’t have to be a scarily jacked bodybuilder to take your exercise regime seriously, whether you’re pumping iron several times a week or you’re riding that twice a year wave of motivation that comes from looking in the mirror at the wrong angle.

However, nothing cramps the style of a workout like unnecessary intrusions from other gymgoers. There’s nothing worse than having to deal with somebody hovering over the machine you’re not done using, or offering unsolicited advice. Worst of all is when people engage in full-blown harassment, and putting others in a position where they don’t even want to return.

Someone who was recently subjected to an uncomfortable experience like this was @emilyesthetic, who had an awkward run-in with another member of her gym that got captured on camera. The former U.S. Marine likes to share details of her gym progress on TikTok and Instagram, and therefore frequently records parts of her exercise routines.

As a mark of respect, she asked another gymgoer working out near her if it was OK that she was filming before she started using a weights bench. After he asked why she was doing this and she revealed it was for social media purposes, she got a hostile and sarcastic response. To make things worse, her recording then picked up the man complaining about her to a friend and “jokingly” threatening to throw a weight at her.

After watching the video, viewers jumped in to defend Emily.

Many people were struck by the seriousness of the situation, and how it can't have been easy to deal with.

There were plenty of others unimpressed by the way the man had acted, too.

Some pointed to the fact that this dude must have had some serious insecurities to be behaving the way that he did.

A few wanted to offer some advice.

Some commenters wanted to help her avoid getting into a similar situation anytime soon, but others were more skeptical. “Everyone giving advice: I'm sure she's thought of things she'd rather say. It's in the moment and it's hard to be confrontational sometimes”, said @missmadi253.

While people are allowed to have their reservations about public filming, most can agree that this kind of behavior crosses a line. In this day and age, it would be nice if some guys finally moved past getting antsy because women have the same hobbies as they do, even if they practise them differently.
