And a gym is not a fashion show

Every gym is entitled to have its own dress code. Some are family-friendly gyms and they would prefer that everyone remain fully clothed throughout the space since there are children present.
Some gyms just prefer that people cover up so there is less contact between peoples' skin and their machines.
There really could be plenty of reasons for a specific dress code, and considering nobody is forced to sign up and pay for a membership at a gym that doesn't fit their preferences, it's not necessarily that big of a deal.
What is annoying is when a gym decides to change its rules after somebody has already committed and signed some kind of a contract. This isn't high school, you don't get to send people home because their spaghetti straps are suddenly offending you. If it is so important to a gym owner that women wear more than a sports bra, they should be clear about it, because newsflash, people get hot and sweaty when they work out, and sometimes covering up is not the preferred option.
Tiktok user Lesli, or @sorryithinkimfunny, posted a video sharing her experience at her new gym that suddenly decided to switch up their rules on her after higher-up staff members noticed she would work out in a sports bra, rather than a full tee. She explains that is has caused her to feel slightly uneasy, and unwelcome at the gym.
Here is her initial video:
To Lesli's surprise, people really had some strong reactions to this video, and many people believed the behavior of the staff was completely unfair. Though there were obviously a few haters as well. One of the less-supportive comments included:
“I mean. Wear a shirt. You’ll be ok.”
But altogether this response was not representative of the majority.
This comment was:
"I’d cancel my membership"
Lesli even made a video response to it where she explained her specific position, and why she probably wouldn't want to switch gyms:
After providing her first response, people still wanted another proper update, so Leslie made sure to deliver. And many people were relieved to find out the signs had suddenly disappeared throughout her gym.
Perhaps a staff member heard about her Tiktok. Oh, the power of social media.
