While this may not be news to many hardcore Lord of the Rings fans, many Twitter users were shocked this week to find out the true ages of the members of the Fellowship of the Ring. The group is comprised of several types of beings: An Elf, a man, a Numenorean (Aragorn), a Maiar (Gandalf), a Dwarf, and, of course, them hobbits. Unlike humans, who generally have the same life expectancies, these beings vary wildly, as is conveniently shown in this chart shared by @lukeisamazing.
Man, I really wish I had hobbit genes.
OP goes on to explain some of the ages in the thread, outing themselves a super nerd (not a bad thing) in the process.
Twitter users began responding with the usual referential humor, cracking jokes, making fun of characters for their problematic age gaps (a favorite topic of the bird app) and accusing characters of grooming. While we already knew the ages of the Fellowship's members, all the gold in the replies was a delight to behold.
The more you know.
