Russian police responded to reports of a suspicious object underneath a bridge in a Moscow industrial zone by cordoning off the area and sending in a bomb disposal unit, but the mystery object wasn't a bomb.
It was a Space Invaders sculpture by street artist P183, whose stunts have earned him a reputation as the "Russian Banksy."
"I'm shocked at the police reaction," P183 told RT. "Who could have possibly mistaken a two-meter-wide space invader for a bomb? What astonished me the most is that when media reported this, they had a picture of actual grenade next to the text."
The fact that the invader was pointing a red LED at passing cars may have made it seem more suspicious (but also more awesome).
