A report in UK tabloid The Sun claims that online war games, including Call of Duty, Medal of Honor and Halo titles, are being used by terrorists to plot attacks in secret.
The paper claims terrorists use private Modern Warfare 3 lobbies to chat about their plans over Bluetooth headsets without fear of discovery.
According to an unnamed source, "It's a terrifying reality. These people waste no time finding a secure method of chatting. They are logging into group games over the internet and discussing terror plots. Security people know about it."
The Sun says terrorists prefer war games because discussions about weapons and violence can be disguised as in-game chatter, and that some even use the games as training tools.
The report claims that "police and spy chiefs" are already investigating these alleged terrorist gamers, and that "security chiefs now fear plotters are set to turn [in-game battles] into reality."
