I've always liked Excel (even before that's what it was called). For a simple, consumer product it has a whole lot of power. Put yourself in my world for a moment; We have a thing called "bolt circles". They are specified by number of holes and diameter of the circle. Often times they are an odd number (can't measure the diameter) and often they are larger than my instruments. I found a series of formulas and made myself a spreadsheet that allows me to enter the number of holes and the circle diameter and it figures which formula to use (different depending on odd or even) and then gives me the longest distance between any two holes, the shortest distance (hole to hole) and the second shortest distance. Lots of nested if-then statements. As you can imagine, on a 3 or 5 hole pattern, this is extremely useful...if any of that made sense. >If I don't talk to you before (I'm sure I will), have a great Christmas and New Year. Take care of yourself, Carol. - James

Happy holidays to you too! :) Yeah, the collectibles were a nice way to meet other cheezfriends, but I think they overdid the amount of collecibles in the end. I felt like I needed to visit this site every day just to be sure I got them all. :)

When the dust settles a little we'll better know where to spend the coins. Yeah, the spreadsheet is the easiest way for me to get organized. It's an old habit from my Ag Management days. I can't remember what it was called but you build a matrix with inputs on one axis and constraints on the other and...I forget now where you put the output or how it all worked but you could use the system to calculate out the optimal use of limited resources. Dangit, now I'm going to have to dig out those files and remind myself how it worked again. >I'll be going up to my Pastor's ranch for Christmas eve (maybe a little squirrel hunting) so, yeah, it'll be good. If we don't chat before then, have a wonderful Christmas yourself and a healthy, happy New Year. - James

What part about getting broadsided by a '59 Edsel do you think is boring? :-) I have to admit though, that I was expecting a jellyfish sting or some such. TTYL - James

*bzz* Just like I thought... :) I'll hang on to some doubles to make people happy if they really need them, or their friends. I will buy some too, I need 4 more. Hope you have a jolly good time! Toodles! :)

Good morning, Carol, I'm glad to see you back on more often. No problem for covering you on the collectibles. >That's pretty incredible about Huell Howser. Did you know what had become of him? It's funny, we all make fun of his quirks (Woooowww!!!) but he is quite the California booster and he gets in and discovers little interesting places all over the state. >I'm not going to have enough coins to cover all of my peeps so I'm glad to see that you will be covering your own. I'll remove you from my spreadsheet (yes, it's THAT serious). Don't know if you saw my LOL << http://cheezburger.com/AnOldCowhand/lolz/View/5593150464 >>. It's gaining a little traction. I had SilentWing send it to Ben Huh and I guess she got a reply back but I haven't read it yet. One of the other cheezlords did comment on the LOL though. As a programmer, I'm glad to see your opinion on the amount of resources needed to run the system. I guess that they need those people more on the cruder, pseudo-p*rn sites. Oh well, I have mixed feelings about the end. Since they changed the system it has become a bit of a chore. >Hope you're healing up well. I can't wait to hear the backstory. - James
