Scummy Collection Agency Messes With Guy's Credit Score

You've got to love it when someone goes from a daunting amount of medical debt, to a sizable cash settlement some years later from a crappy collection agency. As far as satisfying pro revenge tales go, this one right here is something special. Job well done for this dude!

Text - In July of 2016 I was working in construction during one of the hottest days of the year. That day we had a truck delivery for equipment to install bleachers. Normally when I would get a material delivery it comes in your traditional 53 foot semi trailer, this time it was just an old shipping crate with wood plank floors and ceiling on the inside. It was basically a mold playground in there, which I didnt realize in time. Being severely allergic, as I am working in the truck handing stuff

Text - Naturally I called 911, they arrived, gave me oxygen and transferred me to a local area hospital where I was for about 4 hours. At the time I was uninsured and could not give them any insurance up front. They told me my states Medicaid will retroactively cover my costs 90 days prior to the date I get coverage should I make under the amount threshold (which I did)

Text - This part is actually my bad, I got my Medicaid coverage well in time but with the amount of travel required of me for my job (i am out of town/state 5 days a week EVERY week) i completely forgot to get the hospital that information. In August of 2017, now over a year removed from my healthcare visit i was served papers regarding my medical debt. I instantly called the collection agency, explained to them I had medical insurance they were indifferent, and told me I had to pay full amount

Text - I submitted my answer to the summons in person at the court house providing evidence of my coverage under Medicaid and that this debt can easily be covered. The day of setting a date for trial the plaintiffs appeared by phone and then we discussed that i needed to get a "load letter" from the state stating that yes, I am covered. Court was set for early January 2017, by December I had the required load letter, submitted it to plaintiff then we agreed to postpone trial till February 2018.

Text - This is when shit starts to get fucky. After submitting the load letter I got radio silence from them. They didnt tell me it was acceptable, or if there were issues. Just silence. The day of court came and as our case was called.. I was the only one to show up. Plaintiffs literally were a no call no show, so the judge asked me what the situation was and I explained briefly, that they got the load Letter they needed (I gave a copy to the judge) case was dismissed without prejudice. This is

Text - The next day I recieve an email from the law firm 'apologizing' for the no show, their excuse? "We forgot to put it on our calendar" jesus fucking christ was that infuriating because they dragged my ass to the court room twice! But I thought thank god at least it's over. And, this part is VERY key, I responded to them explicitly stating to make sure the agency knows my debt is cleared. I think nothing of it (I should have probably in hindsight since they cant even get a calendar right) an

Text - This is where it gets the most fucky I directly dispute this with Experian providing all documents, the summons, my answer, my letter stating I was covered, and the dismissal by the county judge. Experian sends this dispute to the Collection agency. Their response 30 days later? "Collection agency has verified this debt is valid"

Text - I dispute. (I move out of state at this point) Their response in mid december? "Collection agency has verified this debt is valid" By this time I am no longer able to dispute this. I have been denied apartments, an auto loan, credit cards, all on the fact these two settled debts are still listed as collections. I call experian and they explain that they cant do anything and recommended finding legal counsel. Needless to say I was furious, this was bullshit | wasn't gonna let go. So I did

Text - We filed in the 7th us district court, and summoned them. They answered stating something like they werent liable or was not done knowingly. They requested transfer to the 10th district which happened. When the day of court in the 10th district came about we set a court date for january 202O. By this point (June 2019) I had recieved a letter from the Colorado Attorney Generals office stating they had investigated this and had taken action against the agency. Smoking gun. After that, they
