Guy Tries To Build Computer, Can't Get It To Work, Input Button Solves All

    Text - r/tifu + JOIN u/Grilzzy44 • 22h TIFU by trying to build a computer for the first time. Recently tired to build a gaming PC for the first time. With the help of some friends and a lot of research, I thought I was ready to buy the parts, dive into it and start building it.

    Text - So, after I came back from the store I started building it right away. Didn't hit any major problems and everything seemed to be coming together nicely. Until... it came time to turn it on. Nothing was happening. The monitor (the only thing I didn't buy new) was constantly showing a black screen everytime I turned the computer on. But I knew the monitor worked because I used it for our family PC for many years.

    Text - I opened up the computer probably 100 times to make sure everything was connected correctly and in the right place. I browsed the internet for hours troubleshooting potential problems and nothing was working. I even bought new parts and cords thinking that was the problem. After a few days I said screw it and took it all apart and built it again. Making sure I followed this good YouTube video I found step-by-step.     Text - Totally defeated and on the verge of a mental breakdown, I picked up the monitor to put it on the ground so I could clear my desk off. I guess I hit the input button on the monitor with one of my fingers and the screen was black no more. After days of trying to figure out the problem with the computer and even taking it apart and rebuilding it, all I had to do was change the input on the monitor for it to work. Am I an idiot? Yes.
