My older brother was a massive comic book collector. He didn't just have a few comics—he had thousands, packed into a room in our house that used to be my dad's office (until my brother's growing collection forced a "hostile takeover"). And while he was all-in on the X-Men, Batman, and anything Spider-Man-related, I didn't care which publisher's logo was on the cover. Marvel, DC, Dark Horse, Image Comics, some weird indie title with a hero nobody remembers—I read them all.
That's why crossovers always fascinated me. The rare moments when Marvel and DC teamed up to throw their heroes into the same universe felt like comic book magic. And now, after years of separation, we're getting a new one—THIS YEAR!
During the ComicsPRO retailer summit in Glendale, CA, DC Editor-In-Chief Marie Javins and Marvel Comics Editor-In-Chief CB Cebulski surprised everyone by announcing a brand-new crossover between the two comic book giants.
It won't be a full-blown universe-spanning saga, but two special one-shots—one published by Marvel ("Marvel/DC") and one by DC ("DC/Marvel"). Details are still under wraps, but if past crossovers are anything to go by, we're in for some truly epic matchups.

Marvel and DC have a long history of occasionally playing nice, with past crossovers giving us legendary battles like Superman vs. The Hulk, Batman vs. Captain America, and, of course, Wolverine vs. Lobo. Then there was the Amalgam Age, where the two universes literally fused together, creating insane mashups like Dark Claw (Wolverine + Batman) and Super-Soldier (Superman + Captain America).
While we don't yet know if this new crossover will be a battle royale, a team-up, or some multiversal madness, it's clear that big-name creators will be involved—after all, plenty of Marvel and DC legends have worked for both publishers.
While the comics are scheduled for 2025, the industry is known for delays when coordinating huge crossovers. Both companies will want to get this right, which means it could get pushed back. But honestly? I'd rather wait for something great than rush into a rushed, forgettable crossover.
Whether you've been waiting decades for Marvel and DC to go head-to-head again or just love a good superhero showdown, this is huge news. Stay tuned for more details, and start making your dream matchup wishlist now—because the multiverse is about to get a lot more crowded.
