You ever read something so brutal, so hilarious, so beautifully unhinged that you just had to put the book down and say, "This is peak comics"? That was me in 2012 with Deadpool Kills the Marvel Universe. It was dumb in all the right ways. It was smart in all the wrong ways. It was Deadpool doing what Deadpool does best—taking the fourth wall, smashing it with a mallet, and then setting it on fire just to make a s'more.
Then came 2017's Deadpool Kills the Marvel Universe Again—a bit less iconic, but still a fun ride.
Now? Now we've got Deadpool Kills the Marvel Universe One Last Time. (Sure, Marvel. Sure.)
Issue #1 dropped on April 2nd and it kicks off the final chapter of Deadpool's multiverse murder tour. But this time, Wade's not just wiping out the Marvel universe. He's going after a whole multiverse of twisted Marvel variants—evil Hulks, werewolf Captain Americas, nightmare versions of your favorite heroes, and more. If the first book was carnage, and the second was chaos, this one is straight-up cosmic destruction.
It all starts with Deadpool, alone in the rubble of a ruined world, when a mysterious multiverse-hopping visitor arrives with a mission. One that sends Wade on a path of maximum carnage—again. Cullen Bunn and Dalibor Talajić, the dream team behind the first two books, are back with art that's hyper-detailed and shockingly emotional, balancing the gore and violence with a surprising amount of heart (and a lot of internal monologue chaos).
Issue #2 hits shelves on May 7th, and #3 wraps it all up on June 11th. Three issues. One last massacre. Probably.
So if you're the kind of person who likes your comics bloody, ridiculous, and slightly philosophical, this series is a must. And if you're not that kind of person—why are you still reading?
