Imagine being 12 years old and casually committing the next decade of your life to a single project. That's the reality now for the child stars of HBO's upcoming Harry Potter series, which just entered production at Warner Bros. Studios Leavesden - and according to Variety, they're not messing around. The studio is literally building an entire temporary school so the young actors can keep up with their studies while filming what sounds like the most ambitious TV remake of all time.
Yep. A whole school. Classrooms, schedules, and all - because while your Hogwarts is a soundstage, algebra still exists. And this isn't just some small class, either - The temporary school can accommodate up to 600 students when filming crowded scenes (Like banquets or sorting hat ceremonies) but will typically serve around 150 on any given day. It's approved to operate weekdays from 5:30am to 8:30pm. That's a long school day… in between night shoots, reshoots, and trying to memorize spells.
The kids who just signed their childhoods away include Dominic McLaughlin (Harry), Alastair Stout (Ron), Arabella Stanton (Hermione), and Lox Pratt (Draco), among others.
The new Harry Potter series is set to hit HBO and Max in 2027 - and it looks like it's going to be a massive commitment for everyone involved. Wands up.
