In what might be the most British crossover event since Paddington met the Queen, Prince William and Princess Kate took their kids - Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and the forever-iconic Prince Louis - to visit the set of the upcoming Harry Potter series. Not once. Twice. Because when you're royal and the Hogwarts Express is practically in your backyard, apparently you get a golden ticket whenever you want.
The set, built in Windsor Great Park (aka casual future home of the family), is currently being used for HBO's highly anticipated reboot of the Harry Potter franchise, set to drop in 2027. The royal fam popped by during actual filming, met the cast (yes, including the new 11-year-old Harry), and just generally lived out the dream of every millennial who still has their house scarf in a drawer somewhere.
The real highlight? Prince Louis, age 7, got to ride the Hogwarts Express. With. The. Driver. Meanwhile, I still get weird looks for tearing up at the Universal Studios version.
It's been confirmed that William and Kate are longtime Potterheads - they even visited the studio tour back in 2013. But this latest visit? Next level. Royal meets wizard. Monarchy meets magic. And somewhere, J.K. Rowling's lawyers are probably debating whether Prince Louis can legally be sorted into Gryffindor.
