01During the last moments of the stream this watermark appeared on screen, clearly showing that the copy had been illegally downloaded from The Pirate Bay, a digital copyright infringement and piracy website.
The people who make these illegal copies will often leave these watermarks or "signatures" to signify "their" work, and in this case it got Buzzfeed caught red handed.
A word to the wise, if you're going to stream an illegal copy of a video, make sure that same video isn't going to expose you first.
The question is, will this have any implications for Buzzfeed? All the holder of the movies copyright needs to do is go after them and they could walk away with some serious dough. If they don't it might set a precedent okaying this sort of thing in the future.
NBCUniversal has invested $400 million dollars in Buzzfeed, you'd think with all that money they'd be able to afford a copy of a 40 year old movie.
Special thanks to the quick thinker that grabbed this screen shot.
