It's pretty easy to laugh at furries. The subculture's pervy fanaticism towards anthropomorphic animals can be a lot to take in. Recent movies such as Zootopia only seem to fan the flames of furry desire. Today, thanks to news of Space Jam: A New Legacy's redesign of the sultry Lola Rabbit, we're reminded that these creepy (and horny) tendencies were prevalent as early as 1996.
For those of you who were unaware, Lola Bunny, Bugs Bunny's love interest, is as curvy as she is good at basketball. The artists bestowed her with a pretty serious rack and child-birthing hips. These qualities alarmed the reboot's Director, Malcolm D. Lee, who told Entertainment Weekly that he wanted to wanted to update the look for a more modern and less sexualized appearance. "This is 2021," he said. "It's important to reflect the authenticity of strong, capable female characters."
While we can definitely see where he's coming from (we should not be feeling jealous of a rabbit's assets), the response on Twitter has been mostly negative. And revealing. Seems like there are a whole lot of horny and nostalgic people who really, really hate Lola's less-sexy look and apparent breast reduction. While we're feeling kind of creeped out by how passionate the people are, it's definitely a cause that is both cringey and hilarious. We've put together some of the best responses in this gallery, but we're pretty certain this will be talked about for a while. Frankly, we're surprised that some incel hasn't made a Change.org petition demanding a return to tradition.
