Funny Viral Tweets Discovering The Real But Mildly Terrifying Gerenuk

Meet the gerenuk, otherwise known as the giraffe gazelle. It is one of the only animals out there with whom we kiiiinda understand why it doesn't get more attention. Don't get us wrong, as animal lovers, we totally think this animal is cute and worthy of love, but it... also looks just a tiny bit disproportional, and we would maybe (probably) scream if we randomly saw it outside.

And it seems that twitter agrees, because when a tweet about this incredibly cool animal went viral, the reaction was mostly fear and slight confusion. So, in honor of this animal finally getting attention, we figured we would give it some (slightly terrified) love of our own.

The gerenuk is not thaaaaaat scary. Well, at least if you're living outside of Africa. This animal is an antelope found in the Horn of Africa and parts of East Africa. It's about three feet tall and weighs between 62–114 pounds. And if you think about it, it looks a lot more cool than it does scary.

I mean, come on, tell me that this is not one of the coolest, most unique animals you've ever seen. So what if it's associated with the devil? So what if we can totally see why? Look at those horns, that disproportionately small head, those weird gangly arms. It's perfect. We love it. We're totally not scared at all whatsoever.
