People Expose The Sexist Assumptions Google Translate Makes

Many languages are gendered, so it's very difficult to be neutral when it comes to translating from English. The default is often male and this can lead to a lot of confusion, and assumptions when learning a new language. However, what people are discovering is that even with languages that are 'un-gendered,' like Finnish, Philipino, and Hungarian, Google Translate will still make certain assumptions about the pronouns.

Many people are very frustrated with how their language is appearing, and how sexist it appears on Google Translate and they're showing off the inconsistencies on Twitter.

Dora Vargha expressed her major disappointment with google translate because her language, Hungarian, is not gendered, yet Google Translate likes to make 'adjustments' when it comes to translating. Instances like these are causing people to question what network controls Google Translate, and why does it have such sexist assumptions? Is it really just a neutral robot?

Twitter user Bani Haykal even took it upon himself to make a short film showcasing the choice Google Translate makes when it comes to translating the Malay language. You can see how seemingly intentional everything looks, and how quickly Google believes you meant something else. It's definitely sketchy.
