It can be worrying how deeply embedded sexism is in our everyday lives. Sometimes misogynistic norms can become so accepted that we forget to question them. A lot of women are confronted with these contradictions when they are asked something like, "Why do you shave your legs in the winter? Or really, at all?" A lot of us subscribe to the notion that we just feel more comfortable or cleaner when we have smooth legs, but how much of that is true? If we had grown up in an alternate universe where nobody put a razor on their skin, and women in films were au naturel, would we still want to shave it all off?
On Reddit, women are sharing seemingly harmless things that are really sexist, this thread may make you reconsider why you have made certain choices in your life.
Reddit user u/bewaitss was the one to ask the women of Reddit what were some seemingly harmless things they found to actually be sexist. These women (not females) surely opened pandora's box with this one.
This has always been weird. Do all guys have balance issues or something? If I see a close friend I will often go over to tap on their shoulder, but to casually throw your arms on a stranger just to pass by them is the equivalent of taking a picture of them on a subway. It's just creepy.
