Font - The story is mostly in the title. I was working in a vegan restaurant that offered a wide variety of vegan foods, savoury sweet etc. It had been a vegan cafe for years and all the branding made clear it was fully vegan (written on menus, signs etc)

Font - Obviously there is a general expectation on most places like this that you don't eat food not bought on the premises, but obviously we waive it for kids and their special food, biscuits etc. I've seen people feeding yoghurt looking

Plant - One day some women came in for lunch and one had a child about 4 years old. They ordered and asked for a plate for the kid's sandwich. This is already a more substantial meal than what we usually expect but whatever. When I

Font - could have eaten another type of sandwich - even a vegetarian but not vegan sandwich would have been more acceptable- but in the interests of our other customers we cannot have ham eaten here, especially inside and especially using our plates.

Font - They get angrier and say they'll take their meals to go and won't be back. On the way out they shout that I'm disgusting for depriving a child of its food.

Font - I can see their point, but also think they should have thought more before coming to our cafe. So reddit, AITA?

Font - EDIT: the owner has said kids food is fine if they are small kids and parents are eating, but even staff can't bring meat in if they choose to bring their own meals. There is a no meat or fish on site rule. They take pride in saying to customers

Product - christina0001 Professor Emeritass [86] 15 hours ago 2 NTA I'm a hardcore carnivore and I feel like bringing a ham sandwich to a vegan restaurant is totally crass.

Font - merry2019 Partassipant [1] 12 hours ago Especially a sandwich... I'd be more lenient if this kid was like allergic to garlic trying to eat in a Mediterranean restaurant. Or if it was like a two year old eating some gummies for a dessert. But a four year old with no dietary restrictions should be able to tolerate having some veggies and lentils for lunch.

Font - Ok-Function-8640 10 hours ago This! I've been a server for years now and no one tries to bring in outside food beyond snacks. I'm all for feeding your kids apple sauce or cheerios, but you can't bring a whole meal in for the table and expect me to fill everyone's waters the whole lunch! It's a business and it's not right to use a restaurant as your place to hang out without purchasing food!

Facial expression - -im-tryin- 12 hours ago Agreed! Especially since the woman wanted to use the vegan dishes to hold a meat sandwich while also like the kid was more or less turning his sandwich into confetti!
