Savannah Cat Purrs and Chirps Like a Wild Beast, Reminding the Internet That Cats Are Still Just Feral Animals Living in Our Homes

It’s sometimes easy to forget that our house pets are descended from wild animals. Birds are dinosaurs, dogs are wolves, and cats are… well, still cats but bigger, scarier, and more wild.

Some breeds of cat are a strange hybrid between house pets and the lions and leopards we see in documentaries– Savannah Cats. This breed not only lives in the wild, but is tame enough (ish), to live in the apartments and homes of ambitious individuals who simply cannot just have a regular cat.

Heather from @Heathers__World, is a TikToker who just couldn’t resist having a wild animal in her home. Sure, of all the house pets that are available to us, cats are the most regal and true to their natural selves, but in Heather’s case, her F2 savannah cat is truly a wild beast tamed.

Nothing but meows and purrs over here!

Just listening to the happy chortle of this savannah cat is reminiscent of being on the plains of Africa, with the wind rustling through the high grasses that would normally conceal this mammalian predator in nature.

This savannah cat’s appearance is like that of an actual predator versus the floofy, dough-faced kittens we’re used to seeing use the litter box. Apart from his aesthetic, he is actually quite docile and seems more affectionate than your average house cat.

Perhaps he realizes that things in the wild would be much tougher than living indoors and having wet food crammed into your belly every day.

Cutest chirps from Taj!

Heather actually has not one wild cat, but TWO. She seems hellbent on bringing the outside in with these two. The cats are truly beautiful though, and have nothing but praise in the comment section from her followers. However, insisting on having this breed of cat in your house seems a little overzealous.

Their regal beauty and chirpy sounds come at about $6000/per cat to purchase them and from there, they seem to have a myriad of health problems since they are not meant to be indoors their entire lives. However, we, as voyeurs in Heather’s fancy savannah cat life, can appreciate the beauty and majesty of this animal.

We are also reminded that our own kitten-friends are not so different from their wild counterparts.
