Employees should not have to donate their vacation hours to their co-workers, and Redditor u/commithr certainly wasn't in the wrong for what happened in this r/AmITheA**hole post. When a colleague's daughter grew ill, the workplace asked all employees to donate their time off to the employee who needed to take care of their sick child — even going so far as to release a spreadsheet that everyone could see showing how much vacation time each employee had.
OP, of course, wanted to take Christmas off… because it's Christmas. When they decided that they weren't comfortable handing over their vacation hours to a coworker who was definitely going through a hard time, they proceeded to get ganged up on by their coworkers.
The fact that the boss put up a spreadsheet that showed everyone's vacation hours is pretty shady. The fact that the workplace wouldn't let the employee with a sick child take off as much work as they need is even worse. Do better, bosses of the world.
