Font - What do dogs think a walk is? [Discussion] I've always wondered this-of course there is the innate enjoyment of being outside with the pack just at all, but what do dogs think walks are for? I have to assume that with alot of dogs, they think they are going 'on patrol' in the area around their den, and this is why you brought them with you. I think especially for dogs that don't work regularly, they enjoy thinking of walks as a an important and neccesarry task they're performing for the f

Font - hilgenep21 · 2d Can't speak for all dogs but mine seem to think it's time to explore. Sniff, pee on stuff, look for critters... it's hard to explain but he seems to genuinely enjoy just moving forward and taking in the world around him! Like he's always looking forward to the next exciting thing we might come across. Even if we're just walking around our suburban neighborhood, my dog seems to act like we're on an exciting adventure every time. 6 Reply 1 129 Trlman99 • 2d We always call it

Font - JP817 · 2d My dog is out to meet, eat and greet all things, living and dead. New neighbor? Hello. Old neighbor, random other person walking, with or without a dog? Hello. Acorn? Crunch! Squirrel... chase is on. (she's pulled me across a lawn before) It's her day out, girls trip, barky-hour. She lives for the walks G Reply

Font - strothsloth· 2d Lolol, my dog is a "patroller" too! Occasionally our walk time coincides with a person picking up a kid for school. He stoically watches the whole scene every single time. 金8 kamelizann · 2d One time there was a vacuum cleaner placed next to a trashcan and my GSD gave it the absolute business. The streets are much safer with him keeping the stray vacuum cleaners away. 金 10

Font - floofelina • 2d Oh for mine it's definitely patrol. It's a bit embarrassing --she stops to watch people who are doing something even slightly unusual, like loading stuff in a car. One day a neighbor across the street blew her nose loudly & my dog stopped, sat down, and gazed at her till the poor woman apologized. Font - Mutapi · 2d My dog takes me on what I call "patrols". She grabs a toy, which I think she thinks l'll want/ uses it like a lure, and gives me "the look" until I follow her outside. Basically, she takes me on a walk. She leads me around our property, does some serious üffing, marks some territory, and does a lot of sniffing. It seems to me like she's scanning the perimeter and checking strategic locations where intruders (like raccoons and coyotes) might lurk and announces to any ne'er -do-

Sniffing, peeing, sniffing some more, saying hi to all the neighbors, another sniff, multiple stare downs with squirrels and just prancing a bit to show off our general cuteness! Oh and sniffing a little! Ya know.... All the dog stuff. GENOCIDUS_REX · 2d We call it "checking the pee-mail" and everyone is using reply all.

Font - lysalnan · 2d My dogs favourite walks are what my kids refer to as 'pack hunting expeditions' when the whole family walk up to the take away. My dog always wants to be in the lead on the way up but on the way back she walks with her nose pressed to the cool bag of food. My kids are convinced she see's this as a hunt and she is returning with her prize (generally a sausage from the chop shop). G Reply +
