If you mess up big time and people find out about it through a third party, it's still your fault that you messed up — the person who you wronged isn't somehow now wrong for telling others how badly you screwed up. One husband and father had to learn this the hard way, as Redditor u/throwC5673325 described her husband's complete negligence when she went into labor in a r/AmITheAsshole post. When OP went into labor, she called her husband — who just had to be out watching football with friends – and he didn't even start to get ready to pick her up and take her to the hospital until two hours later. When the husband's parents found out about this, he received an all-time scolding from his own mother, but still tried to blame OP for "making him look bad." Like his own actions didn't do that already.
This story is a pretty good reminder that it's not exactly super hard to be decent. Like, if your wife is probably about to go into labor it might be a pretty good idea to watch the game at home maybe? People's priorities in their relationships can have interesting outcomes, like this fiancé who insisted on being a childless stay-at-home wife. Man, it never ends.
