What do you do when you accidentally and incidentally injure someone else's pet in a bizarre way? That's what Redditor u/VetBills17 and the folks of r/AmITheAsshole tried to figure out in this post; the original user, a teenager, came to the subreddit asking whether they were in the wrong for refusing to give a woman her phone number after a soccer ball she kicked at a soccer field missed its intended target and hit the woman's elderly dog, seemingly injuring the poor creature.
While OP was apologetic, she balked at giving out her phone number to pay for the dog's vet bill, explaining that if the dog was that prone to injury, the owner shouldn't have brought the dog so close to a soccer field where people were actively playing soccer. This one seems like a toughie; normally, refusing to pay a bill for something you broke or injured is awful, but this Redditor didn't do anything on purpose and is only a high schooler making minimum wage. It seems the most upvoted comments on the subreddit indicate people think the owner should have acted more responsibly — what do you think?
