Ever heard of an exabyte? Yeah, we haven't either. Turns out an exabyte is one billion gigabytes, and while it would be nice to have such a large amount of personal cloud storage capabilities, it's probably several hundred million gigabytes larger than any one individual could ever possibly fill up with their computer. The user who requested that this tech support employee increase her email storage claimed she constantly runs out of space and wouldn't take no for anything beyond one exabyte. Again: this is one billion gigabytes. Anyone with technological literacy should recognize that this type of storage costs thousands of dollars, but we do not live in a world with a high computer literacy rate. This request is as if s as if a customer was screaming down your throat demanding you put a recliner in a paper bag. It just doesn't reflect a realistic need anyone has, nor does it make any real sense whatsoever. The original poster's manager found this request so ridiculous they wanted to frame the ticket and put it in their hall of fame.
For another story featuring technological illiteracy, here's a coworker who demanded a mathematically impossible computer and was proven incompetent.
