Many of us have a deep appreciation for an impressively baked cake. You can feast your eyes on the attentive handiwork of someone who clearly had their act together enough to not completely mess everything up. Maybe you got so hopelessly lost in your feverish desires for more cake in your life that you actually got that wild idea in your head that you could go and bake a cake of your own. Then, suddenly, the baked creation that you once thought held such promise ends up coming out of the oven looking like one of those unforgettably monstrous cake fails.
From there, you have a couple different routes available to you. You can crack on and slice that cake wreck up, and proceed to eat it like there's nothing wrong with the picture at all. In all fairness, just because a cake looks like a disaster-piece doesn't mean that it's going to taste like a stomach-turning crime against cakes. The cake might even invite you back for excited seconds. Or, you can toss it in the trash and make a frantic, shame-ridden field trip to your nearest bakery where you'll be able to pick up a cake from someone who knew what they were doing.
The reality is that baking is its own kind of art form. It takes a whole lot of work to build up your baking skillset enough so that you're able to churn out cakes that you could genuinely envision people wanting to purchase from their local bakeries. The good news with all of this talk of cake fails though is that with enough time and patience, you too can level yourself up so that you're able to bake the cake that you deserve.
In the meanwhile though, it's more fun to celebrate people's various attempts at baking cakes, that ended up resulting in complete cake-tatstrophes. Sometimes, what you really need when you miss the mark on your own attempt at baking that next cake is to be gently reminded that there are plenty of people out there that are completely face-planting when it comes to their attempts at baking delectable cakes.
A good old-fashioned cake wreck can actually end up giving you that boost of confidence that you might've needed. You know, the boost of confidence that tells you that it's okay to fail because there's someone else out there who thought they'd just mosey on over to their local grocery store, pick up some cake baking ingredients, and throw together one of those birthday cakes for a friend... only to realize that their whole selfless journey was going to result in a cake monster. Maybe, all of these glorious cake fails will inspire you to go to such lengths that you actually try to throw a cake baking party, where you and friends intentionally tack on cake baking projects that are well outside your abilities, with the purest of intentions to fail in a blaze of frosted glory. And now, let's dive on into a pit of messy cake fails.
