Bo Burnham's newest comedy special on Netflix has been stunning fans worldwide. If you haven't seen it yet, what on earth are you waiting for? I have been a fan of Bo's for 10+ years and am proud to see how his work has progressed over the years. This is his most introspective special yet. He takes a deep dive into lockdown mental health. 'Inside' completely embraces quarantine depression and doesn't hold back on the truth. Providing truth/honesty in art and comedy has always been Bo's goal. Bo lets us in on the innerworkings of his mind. It's dark and painfully relatable. (The lights in the show are really pretty and there are glimmers of hope too!) It honestly has music that will cause belly laughs for days such as "White Woman's Instagram' and 'Welcome to the Internet.' Tiktok made Bo's song 'Bezos 1' an audio sample sensation. Most kids don't even know why they are singing 'Come on Jeffrey, you can do it. Pave the way, put your back into it...' Don't be one of those kids. Get cultured and watch Bo's brilliant special, 'Inside.'
Why not join the cathartic experience of reliving the 2020 lockdown? Just keep in mind that, judging from all the reviews, you'll want to mentally prepare yourself for getting in your feels.
This special won Bo his very first Emmy! He has come a long way from his "Bo's Ho's" days. He is a much more serious artist now and Emmy voters felt seen by Inside. The comedian's dark and painfully relatable special picked up three awards — for variety special writing, music direction, and directing. The special also received nominations for its editing and original music and lyrics. Although the overall tone of the special is gloomy, this tweet is a still shot from the hilarious song 'Sexting.'
