Clueless Boyfriend Destroys Girlfriend’s Recently-Deceased Grandmother’s Heirloom Wedding Ring to Propose, Doesn’t See the Issue With His Actions
When u/fleetsmyk decided that he wanted to propose to his girlfriend he had a genius idea. He could use her grandmother's heirloom ring in order to create a new wedding ring.
His aim was to give her something that was sentimental. Like her grandmother's ring was to her. I mean, she loves that ring but never wears it, so there's no way this could possibly backfire right?
Let's also take a look at the fact that this guy refers to getting engaged to his girlfriend as the "next logical step". That doesn't sound like a reason you want to be getting engaged to be married to another human being. You should want to be with that person not just consider it to be the "next logical step".
Seriously bro. Bad move. How can you not see that there might have been a problem here? I'd expect to be single if I took my girlfriend's grandmother's wedding ring and destroyed it because I was too lazy to pick something else out.
As one commenter points out, you can almost see the intention here. It's incredibly thoughtful to involve her treasured grandmother's heirloom in the proposal. If only there had been another option there somewhere... like, I don't know... Proposing with the grandmother's ring and giving her the option to repurpose it or choose something else?
