Plenty of people have minor problems with their in-laws from time to time, but this Redditor's story about her husband's nosy mother dives into levels of cringe we rarely see. U/Checkinout2022 posted to the popular subreddit r/AmITheAsshole to inquire whether she was in the wrong for intentionally giving her mother-in-law a fake housekey for her and her husband's new house; apparently, the MIL was prone to snooping and had entered their old apartment unexpected a few times before.
The fake key trick was bound to come to light some point, and apparently, it all blew up at Christmas dinner when the MIL tried to confront OP in front of several people about giving her a fake key. Seems like the MIL didn't plan this out, though; OP used it as an opportunity to let everyone know that her MIL just can't help but go all the way to someone else's house and try to enter when they haven't been invited. Perhaps this is the worst part: throughout the OP's post, it seems her husband is more mad at her for embarrassing his mother than mad at his mother for attempting to enter their home without any warning whatsoever.
