Hi friends! Today we're super excited to announce this week's destination: the Baiboosun Nature Reserve in Kyrgyzstan, also known as (Байбоосун).To recap this month, we took a trip together a few weeks ago to a wildlife-filled remote Scottish Island, an incredible bear sanctuary in Romania, and a national park in Argentina full of giant otters and capybaras! We've also visited some other pretty cool places in this segment, from a real life cat village in Taiwan to the Japanese rabbit island of Okunoshima.
But now onto the Baiboosun Nature Reserve, which is definitely a rare gem. According to the nature reserve's Facebook page (google translated into English from Kyrgz), "Baiboosun Nature Reserve was established in 2019 by local activists with the support of the CEP Ala-Too Public Foundation as a public protected area in the Ton district of Kyrgyzstan. The goal of the sanctuary is to create a large number of biodiversity and ecosystem conservation and restoration sites." It's a pretty cool place and we're super excited to share it with you guys today!
Wow, right off the pat this nature reserve looks absolutely beautiful. Unfortunately it is very difficult to get to this park, and it involves a great deal of trekking and travelling to get to, definitely not for the faint of heart. But if you can make it inside the park, you'll be rewarded by stunning beauty. #worthit
Here's a fun fact, snow leopards are represented on the coat of arms of Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan capital city. Also according to the Instagram "The snow leopard is considered sacred not only by the Turkic peoples but also by other peoples and has become a totem and symbolic symbol."
