When you have a dog, they become more than just man's best friend, they truly become a part of your family. Family members, whether they are a sibling, a parent, or a pet, will go above and beyond for their loved ones. Here at I Can Has Cheezburger, we've heard so many heartwarming stories about pets saving their humans' lives. From a dog saving a baby's life, to Masha the cat who saved a freezing baby, and Alab the dog, who saved his owner from a car accident.
There was even a story we wrote about where a parrot saved its owner by calling his name when a fire started in their home. Today's story is another one just like those - the story of an amazing dog who saved the life of a small baby. Truly a hero among heroes! While hiking in a group, one hiker experienced a debilitating fall along with her dog, and while the dog ended up fine, the hiker was unable to get up as they were seriously injured. Thankfully their dog North rescued them by cuddling with them for 13 whole hours to keep them warm! Read on to learn more:
Hiking on the slopes at this time of year can be very dangerous, and the Croatian Mountain rescue service recommends the following in case of an accident, "stay calm, protect the casualty and yourself from an imminent danger (fall, cold, sun, humidity, etc.) in the best possible way, provide first aid to the casualty to the best of your skills and abilities, and mark the place of the accident or the place where the injured person is located (especially in winter). Lastly, report the accident to the CMRS immediately."
According to their website, "The Croatian Mountain Rescue Service (CMRS) is a national, voluntary, professional, humanitarian and non-partisan association working in the public interest. It is dedicated to preventing accidents, and providing rescue and first aid services in mountains and other hardly accessible or inaccessible areas as well as in extraordinary circumstances which require special know-how and equipment for preserving human, material and environmental resources."
According to their Instagram, "After countless trainings, time and effort, these teams gained the right to go on search operations in search of living and dead people by passing the license. At the same time, five teams whose three-year licenses expired joined the regular relic. Three teams have successfully restored it, which speaks volumes about the difficulty of the HGSS license and the fact that despite the experience of the guide, working with dogs is demanding. We are proud of our search teams, and we extend our sincere congratulations to the new licensees and wish them much success in their work!"
