Ok But What Does Your Actual Work From Home Routine Look Like?

Imagine if there were security footage picking up what working from home actually looks like. It wouldn't be pretty and our managers certainly would hate to see it. Thankfully, @liljehu captured exactly what it means to WFH. This post was shared on Instagram by @humorousresources

Let's Watch

So here's what that sweet sweet remote work lifestyle entails. As @liljehu accurately reported, you're not working from home correctly if you're not waking up at the last possible second before your start time. If you're getting up an hour early, you might as well just go to the office. However, if you're truly taking advantage of this wondrous opportunity that has been afforded to you, you better be horizontal until 8:59:59. We don't make the rules. This is just the way it is.

Next, you snooze at your desk for the first few hours of the day and you will yourself awake when you absolutely must, like when you have a meeting or when someone sends you an immediate task to complete on Slack. Unless those things happen, you're probably good to stay half-asleep. At least you're doing it at your desk

Now, when you're working from home, “desk” is a relative term. Sure, you might use a real table or legitimate desk for your Zoom meetings. But other than that, appropriate surfaces for working from home can vary from your couch to your yoga mat if you're doing a class and just need to have Slack open, or from your kitchen counter if you're also cooking to your bedside table if you're also napping. @liljehu also captures that absolutely necessary hour-long mid-day shower. When working remotely, it's important to use every minute of your lunch hour and your breaks. Do not waste a second working. That's an order from yours truly.

We've seen a lot of stories lately about the WFH experience as it compares to the in-person working experience. Such as this viral TikTok, which demystifies the purpose of return to work mandates.
