Font - I've had her for three months now. Nobody wanted her because she didn't run up to them with a big wagging tail and she's 7 years old. She didn't have a "big" personality. Her skin was hanging off her very boney frame and her skin was bad. She's missing bits of her ears and was covered in scabs from fights. She was scared and sat in the back of the kennel nervously shaking. I brought her home for that reason. So many people rescue dogs under the premise of what the dog can do for them, but

We appreciate OP's wise words: "She was scared and sat in the back of the kennel nervously shaking. I brought her home for that reason. So many people rescue dogs under the premise of what the dog can do for them, but it should also be about what you can do for the dog." Amen!! We recommend a career in motivational speaking.

Font - Jokes on them. Although she's from the streets and doesn't know commands, she sits, comes, stops and also goes potty when I need her to without me having to say anything. She's better than a lot of trained dogs. When l'm working or talking to customers in my shop, she sits at my side or naps quietly in her bed. When I have to say "no" to a behavior, she doesn't do it again. When dogs bark in her face on a walk, she keeps walking. When she gets scared in new situations, she looks at me for

Jokes on all the people that wrote this lil doggo off when they first saw her in rough shape, because she is flourishing and living her very best life. We love a heartwarming rescue story, especially one that inspires others to share their own.

Font - She's gained 15 pounds with me and her coat is now very healthy. Her eyes are lively, her tail wags with so much energy and everybody compliments her on what a pretty and gentle-mannered dog she is. All of my dog-owning friends are very jealous. Trainers tell me their clients would be jealous. My mom told me not to get a dog and now she buys her toys. The rescue workers are extremely happy to see pictures of her progress and pictures of her sleeping without being scared.

Font - AggressiveChihuahua · 1d I feel exactly the same way! My dog was 6 when my wife and I rescued her and she wasn't taken yet because she wasn't energetic about people. The other small dogs ran up to us and wanted to play and were kind of crazy but we wanted a more mellow dog and ours was just kind of sunning herself and watching us. She let us pet her and sat on my wife's lap. We took her home and much to my surprise she was potty trained, leash trained, crate trained and knew basic obedien

Font - auntwest • 1d It's amazing, and kinda sad, how devoted and determined to be good a rescue dog is when they luck out with a great home. Rescue pups at adoption events can work a crowd with looks, paw shakes, and nosey up for a, "hello," with the skill of a sales pro. Some need a little help. Thanks for giving her a place to glow up.

Font - 60poodles · 1d I want you to realize you are also a good dog parent. You cannot have a good dog and a bad owner. They simply cannot thrive in an environment that makes them feel uneasy or stressed. You should give yourself credit. You saved this pup

Font - AminaRapunzellAuburn · 1d I feel you. A friend of mine needed to rehome a six year old German Shepard. I was concerned she would be bored senseless and need lots of attention when I couldn't give it to her. Nope. Mellowest dog I ever met. If she was any more mellow, she would be comatose. Barks maybe once a year when I trip on her in the dark or someone comes to the door and I'm in the other room. If I'm in the room she will walk between me and the door but not bark. Best dog for me, with

Font - Kets_and_boba · 1d My grandparents had a similar experience. I volunteered at a kennel and introduced them to a senior dog that I thought could be a good fit. The dog I showed them would lay on her kennel bed and would only slowly get up when they stood at the kennel. She was already 11 years old and skinny. In the meeting yard, she was very gentle and calm. They adopted her and she's the easiest dog ever. Her previous owner did an awesome job. She's house trained, crate trained, polite i

Font - 1_Methadone_Man · 1d I just adopted a 5 plus year old Italian greyhound mix of some sort on the 1st of February. The previous owner has 2 terrier mix and they would steal her food and treats. I don't think I could find a better fit for her. She's not big on sit or gimme a paw. But she's great at stay, come here and know her boundaries almost. I'm glad she's older and pr-etraind. She has a great friend across the street. It's too bad I just can't have him over for a play date without the h

Font - bizzy_mom · 1d When we went to the shelter I will admit, I was about the dogs who ran up to the front. My husband saw a big baby sitting quietly in the back and asked if we could meet her. We took her home for 5 wonderful years together. We called her our gentle giant, rott-lab mix, and honestly she set the bar for every rescue we've had since.
