One of the biggest myths surrounding family dynamics is that grandparents are the ones who are nicest to you. Sure, maybe your grandma genuinely is a sweet old lady who loves nothing more than feeding you up, and your grandpa used to be the best for slipping you pocket money when your parents weren't looking. Behind the cuddly exterior, though, lies a stone cold, vicious roasting maestro.
You don't stick around on this earth long enough to see a couple of younger generations grow up without developing a thick skin, and this usually comes with the expectation of other people being similar. Add to the mix that your average old person doesn't have the best grasp of how to moderate their tone on the internet (or indeed anywhere, for that matter), and the result is a number of horrified grandkids doing a double take.
While these grandparents might love their family deep down, the fact that they've reached an age where they stopped giving a sh*t wins out in the end. I guess that's one thing to look forward to about getting old.
