The OP in this this tale has been told that she is a very good cook in the past. She claims, "I'm generally a pretty great cook, and most people who have had my food agree." We have no reason not to believe her. However, her partner of all people is questioning her culinary abilities. She used one her her grandmother's most famous recipes. He came over to try the broth, and had the audacity to say it tasted like dirt without giving any helpful suggestions or feedback. She thought maybe it was just a one time fluke. But then later she made a coffee cake and he roasted her AGAIN. This man could at least say, 'no thank you.' We will never understand how anyone can be so impolite after someone makes them a dish. Newsflash guys, no one is ever entitled to make you anything. He then proceeded to tell her that his mother makes a better coffee cake than her. OP think's he's being rude and uncalled for. But she also wonders if maybe she just can't take criticism. Help her and the moral Judges of Reddit to decide.
Wordy question but let's dive in. Usually partners cook for each other because you know... they are partners. But if one partner is doing more work than the other that can usually cause tension. Sounds like OP (the girlfriend) is doing most of the cooking. If the boyfriend doesn't contribute or help at all it's safe to say he shouldn't get much of a say on how the cooking should go down.
Being snowed in isn't great for anyone. Spending every waking moment with someone, even if you love them, can be a recipe for disaster. Add in a recipe for real food and just see what concoction comes out.
