Man Secretly Switched Wife's Cat With A Better Behaved Doppleganger 6 Years Ago

Here at I Can Has Cheezburger we've learned well and good by now that if you mess with other people's pets, you're gonna get in trouble. Unfortunately we've had to hear quite a few stories before about people having family members or partners and then getting into conflicts over their pets, like the family who forced their daughter to live with a dog she was allergic to because it was her sister's service dog, just an unfortunate thing for everyone involved. Moral of the story being, always talk things out, unless your relatives are crazy, in which case post the story to Reddit so that all of us can read it. But what if your husband spent six whole years lying to you about your beloved pet cat. What if he had swapped that cat for another one without your knowledge?

Today we have a story just like that. As the husband, OP says he is racked with guilt, and regrets not prioritizing the relationship with his girlfriend, now wife, over his dislike of the original cat. We're no therapists, but it is does seem to us like this couple as a little bit cursed by the six years of lies that his husband has been propagating. It seems like the man really can't undo this lie that he's been perpetuating all of this time, but maybe there will be a happy ending.

    First of all, we're speechless. In the words of Kat from Euphoria, "That's like…. really really bad". Seriously though, this is not typical couple behavior. Some things should never be kept a secret from your partner, and this is one of them. We can't ever imagine hiding something this big from our significant. And this man managed to hide this for six whole years!

After all, the average person does nothing of the sort, so it definitely is a bit shocking to hear about all over again.

    Font - (it's old owner died of a heart attack and the animal shelter people said they think that's why it was skiddish). But overall, it was a lot friendlier and better behaved, and the skiddishness would help it resemble the original cat.

    Font - So I adopted it, took it to my wife's apartment, settled it in, then drove her original cat to an animal shelter a town over (I was paranoid my wife would find out if I took it to a local one).

    Font - It's been 6 years since then. We got married 4 years ago. We still have the swapped cat. It answers to the original cat's name. My wife knows nothing. She loves this cat and brags about how much better behaved it is. Everytime I see it, I feel like a total piece of shit.
