Making new friends as an adult is hard. When we were kids, we would just walk up to someone random on the playground and automatically be friends because we were both fans of the same slide or something silly like that. All it would take was one common interest and we were good to go. In college, we would share the same major so we would automatically have something in common, and the rest would blossom from there. As we grew older and became more complicated, it became harder to make new friends, especially with new responsibilities that came piling on all at once. Adulting is hard enough as is, and we'd rather just stick with the friends we made early on in life than make an actual effort to meet new people because that's just another task we would have to add to the list. Twitter user @delia_cai recommended going up to new people at parties and asking who they hate here instead of what they do because that will start a really open, honest conversation real quick. People took to the comment section to share their own ideas about innovative openers at parties, while others reacted to these wacky questions.
If the person at the other end of the question is chill, they'll get into it real quick. If they're taken aback by the hateful question, they're clearly not worth being friends with.
We're all about the hot tea at this party.
