Every so often, it is not the human that adopts the cat, rather it is the cat that adopts the human. Such is the case for the original poster of this delightful Twitter thread who inadvertently took responsibility for a stray cat by feeding it. Twitter users everywhere chimed in with their own heartwarming recollections of being chosen by stray or feral cats, rescuing them, and living their happy lives.
Cats in general are known for taking a while to warm up to their humans and they tend to be very cautious creatures, but those strays are hungry and can easily be swayed in your direction with a little food. There's this totally unjustified stigma out there that cats don't actually love their humans, but every single cat owner knows otherwise. Cats can be incredibly affectionate. They just have their own weird ways of expressing it.
"I'm not much of a cat person but we have this cat that floats around the neighborhood. It was walking by our door and I called it and it came. So I gave it a handful of cat food. Now it won't go away. Oh brother what did I do"
You done got yourself adopted that's what you did!
Now that is one absolute unit of fluff. The fluff is strong with this one.
