Karens rarely think before they throw a tantrum—often resulting in an epic backfire—and the star Karen of this redditor's story is no exception. For some reason, OP's backyard shed offended their Karen neighbor so much that she snitched on them to the city for supposedly building a shed that was larger than the permitted maximum. Not only did an inspector ensure them that their shed wasn't breaking any rules, they found out through the experience that they could build an even bigger, better shed if they wanted to. And that's exactly what they did.
While others expressed their enjoyment of OP's malicious compliance, others shared times they experienced similar satisfaction after epically owning difficult neighbors.
“This was my first thought too. Wait for the first thing to be completely fixed, let her relax for about a week, then hit her with the next one. Wash, rinse, repeat until neighbor has been fully broken.” said u/Gorilla1969.
“Then a few weeks after she's recovered from fixing all of the code violations - bam! You put a colony of Africanized bees in her mail box.” said u/DrinkingBleachForFun.
“lol Calm down Satan.” said u/Gorilla1969.
“A bad neighbor put his house up for sale. He shared a fence with us and two other neighbors. The back fence neighbor took a picture of the house and the for sale sign and turned it into Christmas cards for us and the other neighbor.” said u/Mental_Call6451.
“Can only imagine how enraged she was and she will vent to both her Karen friends” said u/SuizidoAwesome.
“My neighbor complained about the same thing where I grew up. So, we had our property surveyed, just to prove a point. Our neighbor had never had his lot surveyed. Their fence was a full 10 feet over onto our property. They said they wouldn't move it. We called the inspector, who came over and fined them a ridiculous amount for just the state of said fence (it had seen better days decades earlier), after the neighbor flat-out told the inspector that we'd have to take him to court to force him to move ‘his’ fence. The uppity neighbors on the other side of us lost 6 feet off their property as well (we had a corner lot, and after they moved in, they tried to tell us we couldn't go into the woods behind our house or access the embankment on the side of our property near their house). My father just shrugged and told them, ‘He who surveys last, loses.’ I've never forgotten that statement.” said u/OtherThumbs.
