We have to learn from the past in order to prepare for the future. At least, that's what everyone would think if history teachers had anything to do with it. The events that shaped the way we are today are fascinating, but they don't always get taught in that way.
Plenty of people have had unsavory experiences of dusty history lessons, but it would seem like these experiences are on the way out for the next generation. Teachers like @janna_e_haider seem to be doing their best to drag the olden days into the young minds of the present, using some unconventional methods.
After teaching a quarter about US history between the years of 1815 and 1920, Janna invited her students to participate in an extra credit assignment in which they made memes about anything they had learned about the time period. The results demonstrated a great knowledge of both this point in history and of memery. One thing's for sure, she definitely taught those kids well.
