According to Love Meow, In Ontario, Canada, on the streets of Dundas,  a black and white cat was found wandering with a heavily pregnant belly. She was alone and clearly in need of help, and some good Samaritans saw her. Very quickly, they realized she needed medical attention and a safe place to stay. She had infected sores covering her chest and neck, and she had most likely been abandoned and neglected for a while at that point.

The kind people took the cat into their home, nursed her back to health, and gave her a comfortable, warm, and safe place to give birth to five healthy kittens. In hopes of getting the family of six the best chance at good homes, these wonderful people reached out to their local rescue, Salty Animal Rescue

The cat was named Oreo, and she was incredibly friendly from the very beginning. She seemed truly glad to be indoors after everything that she went through. "They will never need to live on the street again and will never add to the overpopulation of stray and feral cats in our community," Karly and Katelyn Saltarski, cofounders of Salty Animal Rescue, explained.

Oreo, being a wonderful mom, gave her five kittens undivided attention and constantly filled the nursery with her purrs. She could not get enough pets and love from the humans around her and seemed genuinely happy to raise her babies around them. "Mama Oreo is the most loving girl. She was always making sure her babies were cared for. We are so happy that her finders stepped in (just in time)."

After two weeks of being in foster care, the kitten's eyes had finally opened, and they were ready to start walking around - if you can call flailing their legs around walking. Momma Oreo continued to be fantastic, feeding them and keeping them purrfectly clean. Despite everything that she went though, she trusted humans and really wanted their loving attention.

"She was obsessed with Foster Dad Chris and was constantly purring and bunting." The kittens, over time, got upgraded to a large suite where they were able to run around and properly learn how to cat. They wrestled with each other and with Oreo's tail- always keeping their mom on her toe beans.

"Oreo did an amazing job raising her babies and continued being the sweetest girl. She made best friends with our resident dog, Nood, and happily shared her babies with her. The kittens were showing their personalities more each day," the rescue wrote. She watched her babies every step of the way, right until they reached the rambunctious teenager phase.

The kittens - now named Griswold, Clara, Tinsel, Juniper, and Noel - figured out how to use their litter boxes quickly, reaching one milestone after another. Only then did Oreo let herself take a break and spend some more time with her humans. "She loved her treats so much that she demanded them and extra loving every night."

Now, after a few long weeks in foster care, the whole family is ready to find their forever homes. Oreo was picked up quickly by a family who had fallen head over heels for her and welcomed her into their home. "Oreo and her five babies are all officially in their forever homes and we could not be happier for them. They all lucked out with the best adopters," the rescue shared, adding, "They get to call their new families and warm cozy houses, home, instead of the freezing streets."
