Font - It was my daughters birthday last weekend and we had a small family party. I put a message on the family group chat asking if people would be able. My SIL (husbands sister, we'll call her J), who is a vegan, didn't reply but like reacted the message.

Font - She ignored all other party related chat so i assumed she wasn't coming. It's normal for her to just ignore a question when the answer is no but she'll respond when it's yes. The party was set between mealtimes so it would just be snacky food and as J is the only vegan, I didn't worry about what food I put out.

Mammal - An hour and a half into the party J turns up and when she goes to the food table, I mention that the only vegan foods are the crisps and fruit.

Font - I later hear her telling my other SIL (we'll call her B) that I'm TA for not providing vegan snacks. B says that J didn't RSVP. I let her know I heard and said if she had let me know she was coming I would have bought vegan snacks. J said that by like reacting the message it meant she was coming.

Font - Daft_Cow_ · 2 hr. ago So she didn't rsvp, turns up an hour and half late then moans about the lack of snacks for her? NTA.

Font - I_Told_Your_Mom_No · 3 hr. ago NTA I am not vegan, but I do have dietary needs that are not the standard. If I am going to a party, I bring stuff I can eat and share if anyone else wants it. I was also raised to never show up to a gathering empty handed.

Font - Loreo1964 · 2 hr. ago Certified Proctologist [20] NTA. She didn't RSVP. She showed up an hour and a half late. She showed up empty handed, rude. And you know, unless it's medically necessary being vegan is her choice. Come prepared.

Font - DangerJett · 2 hr. ago Asshole Enthusiast [7] NTA- and you did have crisps and fruit she could eat, so it's not like she starved.

Font - thedarkerhour · 2 hr. ago · edited 2 hr. ago Partassipant [2] NTA. Both yes and no are one word, something that takes no effort to type out. Rather than giving your text a "like" reaction and expecting that to answer your question is so stupid. Also, it's not like J starved. You did provide vegan snacks, but I guess they weren't ones that she wanted. Typical.
