Couple Pretends To Be Trashed To Get Out Of Babysitting Their Relatives' Kids On Family Trip

Vacation with kids simply isn't the same. Being a parent is a full-time job, and even when you're on vacation, you need to keep an eye on the kids at all times and can't be as carefree as you used to be once upon a time. Being a parent comes with great responsibility, and parents can't expect others to take on that responsibility for them. Once people decide to become parents, they're in it for the long haul, even when they're on vacation. In today's 'Am I The A$$hole?' post, OP told us about how she and her girlfriend were treated like a free babysitting service on a family trip because they were the only ones that came without kids. Her relatives kept asking the two of them to take care of their kids while they went off and got drunk. OP and her GF were sick of being treated like babysitters, so they pretended to be too drunk to function one night so they wouldn't get stuck with kids who aren't theirs - and their tactic worked!     We would use any tactic necessary to get out of babysitting someone else's kids for free.

    Sounds cute in theory, but not if your relatives are taking advantage of you for free babysitting services.

    Font - The first day, a bunch of the couples seemed to just assume my girlfriend and I would babysit when we were hanging out at the beach barbecue. Just telling their kids to go to us to play. We'd send them back to their parents a few times but they'd complain they were busy and needed a break and ask us to "help".

    Font - We weren't planning on drinking much, we often don't drink at all, but we decided to grab some cocktails and water. We drank them and then got the idea of pretending to be shit faced drunk so we'd stop being considered the sober babysitters of the trip.

Idk if this is some weird thing people do to lesbians but my family is always trying to put these sort of domestic responsibilities on my wife and I when we're all together.
