Entitled Mom Does Not Understand Why Zoo Worker Friend Won't Take Her Son To Visit The Lions

Is it just us, or are folks getting more entitled and rude by the day? It's almost as if common sense just ain't so common anymore, unfortunately. On that line of thinking, we came across a delightfully frustrating Reddit thread posted by a zoo worker who wants to ask the world a question: "Am I the a-hole for not taking my friend's son to meet animals one on one at the Zoo I work at for his birthday?"

A little context here, OP works at a zoo, mainly with elephants, but also with the other animals. Her friend's child who happens to also be her godchild and honorary nephew has an upcoming birthday and he LOVES animals. OP's friend thinks that it is appropriate to request that OP take her son on a forbidden, not allowed, up close and personal tour of all of the zoo animals, especially to check out the lions since lions are his favorite animals. Girrrrl, have you lost your damn mind? We love lions and elephants as much as the next animal-lover, but that doesn't mean we think this is a remotely reasonable request. Yikes.

    Font - love my nephew but taking a kid back there especially a boisterous one isn't fair on the animals at all as outside of the enclosure parts the public can see is their quiet areas to relax and avoid stress and taking a little kid closer to a lion than he'd normally be...it seems a recipe for disaster I tried to tell my friend my concerns and offered a compromise and my gift to him is a day pass to the zoo for him and five of his friends and i've even pulled some strings to let them feed the

    Font - My friend is upset by this and thinks what she is asking isn't much at all and that I should be encouraging his love of animals by letting him get up close and personal and she insists he'd be quiet and well behaved and not disturb the animals I take him to see. She thinks feeding the penguins isn't enough and would be "Boring" for the party, am I being unfair here? I thought it was a good compromise.

And, as an aside, I love animals very much regardless of my sad childhood in which I was deprived of a special one on one tour behind the scenes of a zoo.

If he's passionate about animals and he wants to have positive interactions with them, he needs to learn to put their welfare first. OP could say something like, "I know you're awesome because I know you, but to the lions, it would be like if I randomly showed up at your house with a friend hang out in your room. That might make them trust me
