Woman Kicks Boyfriend And His Dog To The Curb While Reddit Cheers Her On

Dating can be a total nightmare, and we're always reading horror stories on the internet about dates gone wrong, or seemingly sweet people turning out to be lunatics. This week was no different, since we stumbled on a thread on Reddit's Am I The Asshole sub that gave us all the schadenfreude we could handle. The woman who made the post knew that she'd get some hate for it anyway, but she still went ahead and wrote it out. Apparently, her boyfriend brought her dog over to her apartment against her wishes, and she kicked them both out! How cold! 

She explained further however, that first of all, no dogs are allowed in her building, not even as visitors. Second of all, she's got a lot of small animals of her own at home, including an elderly cat, a guinea pig and gerbils. And, third, this guy didn't even ask if he could bring his dog along! So, we had to reconsider our original stance. The rest of Reddit did the same, and when the responses came in, this woman was resoundingly told that she wasn't the asshole, her boyfriend was. 

We compiled the best comments from the thread below, and as you'll see, everyone was pretty astounded by the boyfriend's behavior. Reddit is usually a bit of a hive mind when it comes to dogs and dog ownership, so it was nice to see everyone unite when they saw an owner who was in the wrong. Plus, this Am I The Asshole thread almost became a Relationship Advice thread by the end, with everyone chiming in to tell the OP: dump that guy!

    Some Background Info Before You Decide

    Font - I know the title is going to get people riled up, but hear me out on this. I (31f) have been dating "Dude" (29m)for 8 months. It has been great. He has a dog that is 8, that he has had since she was a puppy. I have nothing against dogs, I'm just not a fan of owning them simply because 1.     So here's the story in all it's gruesome detail. Boyfriend brings dog over, brags about that dog doing bodily harm to one of his ex's animals, and then acts offended when said dog can't terrorize woman's other pets. Makes sense, right? We're joking, it doesn't make any sense at all. There's no reason this woman ever should've thought she was the asshole in this situation, because that guy is totally in the wrong.

    As this Redditor points out, this woman is beating herself up for all the wrong reasons. She has every right not to want a dog in her home, and every right to be upset by the man's behavior. At the end of the day, it seems like the only thing she should be upset with herself about is her taste in men.

    Animal Welfare Advocate Chimes In

    Yea This Guy Ain't Normal

    Font - Normal-Height-8577 · 4 mo. ago O I think there's two separate issues. 1. It is natural and normal for a dog to have some level of prey drive. That means an owner has to be more careful, not less. 2. It is not normal or natural for an owner to be OK with their dog killing other people's pets. Many breeds of dogs were bred specifically to hunt and kill vermin (as in, things like gerbils), or simply to hunt.
