Visually Impaired Redditor Needs Advice About Uncaring Girlfriend– Internet Hilarity Ensues
Guide dogs are helpful for people with so many different disabilities, whether their ailments be physical or mental. In the case of blindness, guide dogs are especially helpful. A blind person without a guide dog is going to need some very developed skills with their cane, and also won't have the same level of companionship and trust moving about in the world that a guide dog would offer them. That's why one Redditor was puzzled this week, and needed to turn to the Am I The Asshole subreddit for some advice. Apparently, she's slowly going blind, the poor thing, but her girlfriend is insistent that she has no need for a guide dog. Sounds a little strange, doesn't it? We thought so too. So, we dug deeper into the situation, and perused the thread's comments as well, trying to get to the bottom of this whole mess.
Now, here's what we know for sure: the woman made her own decision and went ahead with the application for a guide dog, and the woman's girlfriend is one of Reddit's new favorite people to hate. The comments flying in about how inconsiderate the other woman was being, and how selfish she was, and how mean she was, and how evil she was– you get the point, those comments had us cracking up! Wait, Is This A Troll Post?
At first glance, we didn't think this could be real. Someone is going through a real, life-changing medical situation and the person who is supposed to be their rock is advocating that they make things harder on themselves? How does this make any sense? We feel awful for what the woman is going through, but it sounds like the worst thing going on is that they're stuck dating an animal-hating monster!

Good Call, Girlfriend!
Thankfully, OP decided to ignore their girlfriend's nonsense excuses and apply for a guide dog anyway. If the dog will really have that much of an effect on their life, we're glad they made the decision for themselves instead of blindly following someone else's lead (pun intended). Still, we just had to keep reading this thread to see what all the commenters had to say about OP's girlfriend. And let us tell you, these comments definitely did not disappoint.
