When this cake decorator joined her husband's family the first thing she learned was that her sister-in-law had already claimed baked goods as her own. Everything she made for family gatherings went untouched by her husband's family as a means of preserving the sister-in-law's fragile identity. So, when her sister-in-law posted the cake pops she had made to Instagram the cake decorator decided that it was time for some underhanded tactics. She made perfect replicas of her sister-in-law's cake pops and subjected her in-laws to an unwitting blind taste-test challenge.
This thread was posted to Reddit's r/AITA (Am I the A--Hole) subreddit by the wife who is fed up with her husband's family and their terrible attitudes. She posted the thread with the title 'AITA for tricking my in-laws into trying my food?' under a throwaway account, u/throwra_sipitk.
I always take throwaway accounts to be a good sign that these types of threads are indeed authentic. It can go both ways, since it's easier to make up identities with no prior commenting history on the profile. However, when a situation is intimately specific enough (like a familial dispute) that you would be easily identified, then a little distance from your main account would be advisable. That's why the throwaway account is a good indicator here.
What's your take? Who is the a-hole here?
