More than any other social media, TikTok polarizes the opinions of everyone who knows about it. It seems to be cursed with an ability to widen the generation divide, pit groups against each other, and start the kinds of insufferable discourse that wouldn't have looked out of place ten years ago. It also happens to document some of the wildest and most amusing events shared to the internet, but it's a trade off which treads a fine line. It has its fair share of trolls, as well as users who are just straight-up crazy, and it can lead to some pretty wacky conclusions. Even its naysayers have to admit that there are a quite a lot of TikTokers out there with an amusing sense of humor — or at the very least, lack in self-awareness in a way that makes it hard to stop watching. Like it or not, this madness isn't going away any time soon.
