Hiring manager calls night-shift worker in the middle of sleeping at 12pm: 'I know they’re going to show me the same job vacancy I didn’t accept before because of too low wage'

  • I work at night, but hiring manager calls me when I'm sleeping, at 12PM...

As I said in the title, I work at night. I've been searching for another job and I tell them all I work at night. It starts at 20:00, but I have to wake up at 17:00 to be ready, take my bus etc.
  • This hiring manager called me in the middle of my sleep at 12PM. I didn't answer the phone and believe it or not, the phone rang for around 3 minutes... I know they're going to show me the same job vacancy I didn't accept before because of too low wage. I can't survive with that amount of money, too low for these days. They already sent me a message about it today.
  • I remember the hiring manager told me there were more people to show this job vacancy, but where are they? She also said "you have to decide today, right now" and "you have to start it this week", knowing I have a job and I should tell them I'm leaving (I don't want to burn bridges). Just venting.

  • . Green-Inkling 12h ago "(i don't want to burn bridges)" they'll do it for you. might as well snatch the match from them.
  • . BooksandBiceps • 11h ago "If you call me during these hours I will automatically deny any opportunity given and, if it keeps happening, block your number". I wouldn't trust the jobs that someone with a used car salesman mentality is offering anyway.

  • . onegravybiscuit 13h ago They dont care. I work 2-10:30 Mon-Fri. My manager thinks is completely fine to force me to come in on Sundays at 5am. I explained to him that is like first shift having to do one 3rd shift a week and he says no its different.
  • Well when I have to wake up at the time Ive been going to bed all week it is. But they dont care. Some people get a little power and they go nuts
  • Baguetele • 9h ago There are very affordable phone plans that you can use with an old phone. Use that number for work, turn it off at whatever time you're off work. At the very least, use the "do not disturb" settings on your current phone to prevent these wake-up calls from the hiring manager.
  • . Demonslugg · 5h ago You need to start using do not disturb
  • Re... • 8h ago Edited 6h ago . • I had to tell an employer a couple weeks ago I don't want the job anymore after they asked me to drive 2.5 hrs just for an interview (not even guaranteeing the job). Another one asked me to do a trial day on my day that was scheduled on the first week of my current job.
  • I've learned to just deny jobs and tell them why when they're showing me so many red flags in the hiring process.
  • McDuchess · 5h ago • It's not that there aren't AHs in HRs. It's that somehow this person had enough brain cells to post this BS, but not enough to tell the fictitious hiring manager they aren't interested.
  • Fairie-Fae • 4h ago I get that 12 pm is your middle of the night. But be realistic, when do you expect HR from a perspective job to call you? HR at almost every company works 8 am to 5 pm. They aren't allowed to stay late just to call you.
  • With limits like this, you are setting yourself up for failure. "I want a new job, but refuse to allow any communication when you're doing business." If you want a new job, YOU will have to work with a new employer's call back times, not expect HR to work outside their hours.
  • I know logic and reddit are hard to put together, but you know, your view point isn't the only one that matters.
  • SaucyNoodlesZ . 9h ago Dude, that's messed up. Seriously, real talk - if they can't respect ur personal time now, imagine what'll happen if u actually take the job? Seems like they're trying to guilt trip ya into accepting crappy pay too. Stand your ground, man. Better things'll come around, just keep looking and stay strong. Sleep's too damn important to be messed with!
  • Sesoru 8h ago • Unless you're salary, you don't actually owe them any chatting about work when you're not actually on the clock. I'd remind them that when you're off the clock, you're off the clock. They can discuss your job with you during your working
  • hours. If they want to talk outside those hours you will need to do it on your availability, not theirs, and while clocked in for proper compensation.
  • Yukon_Wally • 3h ago Off the clock means off the clock. This job I'm at now gave me a work phone, but I turn that shit OFF when I punch out. Not my fault I'm not getting paid to have it on 24/7. Well, it is (I always avoid salaried gigs)
  • SadOla 4h ago . That's so annoying tbh... some recruiters act like your whole life should pause for their call. If they're already pushy about a job you don't even want, that's kinda the vibe you'd be walking into anyway lol.
